BEST WEDDING VENUES MARBELLA

A PHOTOGRAPHER’S INSIDER GUIDE

Marbella Wedding Venues: What You Need to Know Before You Choose

As a destination wedding photographer in Southern Spain, I’ve photographed weddings at some of the best wedding venues in Marbella — from intimate private villas in the hills above Puerto Banús to rustic fincas with sweeping sea views and centuries-old cortijos tucked into the Andalusian countryside.

This guide is built on real experience: the light at each venue, the logistics that matter, and the moments that make each one special. Not a directory listing — a photographer’s honest inside view.

Marbella wedding venues range from 50-guest intimate villas to 300-guest fincas — and every type offers something the others don’t. The key is matching the venue to your wedding: the size, the style, the legal requirements, and above all, the atmosphere you want to wake up remembering.

Below you’ll find the venues I know best, the ones I’ve documented in real weddings, along with everything you need to plan your celebration on the Costa del Sol with confidence.

Private Villa Weddings in Marbella

Wedding villas in Marbella offer something no hotel or public venue can match: total privacy, complete flexibility over timing, and the feeling that the entire property is yours for the day. Marbella wedding villas are typically nestled in the hills above the coast, with views that stretch from the Sierra Blanca mountains down to the Mediterranean — and as a photographer, they’re a dream to work in. Natural light, intimate spaces, and no strangers in the background.

BEST WEDDING VENUES MARBELLA

Villa Lámpara Marbella — Intimate Luxury with Sea Views

Perched in the hills above Puerto Banús, just 15 minutes from the centre of Marbella, Villa Lámpara is the kind of venue that photographs itself. With a capacity of around 70 guests, it’s perfectly designed for intimate, luxury celebrations where every detail gets the attention it deserves.

The villa faces west, which means the ceremony area catches golden light from around 5pm — extraordinary for autumn weddings. Spaces include a manicured garden for ceremonies, a pool terrace for cocktails, and an elevated dining area with uninterrupted sea views. Starting price from €1.650. No wedding planner required. Casa de la Era Marbella — Rustic Elegance in the Hills

Casa de la Era sits in the hills above Marbella with a double panorama: sea on one side, Sierra Blanca on the other. The venue has a distinctive rustic-elegant character — natural stone, exposed wood, and terraces framed by Mediterranean gardens — that makes it one of the most atmospherically photogenic options in the area.

The venue works with a preferred planner (Charlotte May Weddings), which actually simplifies planning considerably. Ceremonies are symbolic or civil. It’s an exceptional choice for summer weddings where the drama of a golden Andalusian evening is exactly what you’re after.

Luxury Wedding Villas in Marbella: What to Expect

Luxury wedding venues in Marbella typically start around €5.000–€15.000 for the venue hire itself, with the best private villas reaching €25.000+ for peak season exclusivity. Most don’t require an in-house caterer — you bring your own, which gives you complete freedom over the food and bar. Capacities usually range from 50 to 100 guests, making them ideal for intimate-luxury celebrations. From a photography perspective, the best villas face west for afternoon light, have multiple distinct spaces to move through the day, and — crucially — are away from public roads and noise.

Finca and Cortijo Weddings near Marbella

A finca is an adapted agricultural estate — typically with a main house, terraced gardens, and open-air spaces — while a cortijo is a traditional Andalusian farmhouse with thick whitewashed walls, stone patios, and a timeless rural character. Both make for the most photogenic wedding settings in Southern Spain. Finca wedding marbella and cortijo wedding marbella searches are growing fast — and for good reason. These venues offer space, soul, and a connection to the landscape that no purpose-built event space can replicate.

Finca Amalur Marbella

A seafront finca with capacity for 150 guests, sea views, and a connection to Marbella Old Town’s Iglesia La Encarnación for religious ceremonies. Spring light here is exceptional.

Cortijo Pedro Jiménez — near Marbella

In Casares, 20 min from Marbella — one of the most dramatic wedding venues near Marbella. 150 guests, civil ceremonies outdoors, panoramic sea views including Gibraltar. Golden hour here is unmissable.

More Fincas and Cortijos in the Marbella Area

Beyond the venues I’ve photographed directly, the Marbella area has several other outstanding options worth knowing about. Hacienda del Álamo (Málaga, 30 min) is one of the largest historic hacienda wedding venues in the province — impressive for 200+ guest celebrations. Cortijo San Francisco in Estepona offers a classic Andalusian cortijo wedding experience just 15 minutes from Marbella. Hacienda San José is another local favourite for couples seeking a hacienda wedding marbella setting with traditional character. If you’re comparing multiple venues, I’m happy to share my firsthand perspective on any of them.

Cortijo San Francisco

Cortijo San Francisco — Estepona

Just 15 minutes from Marbella in Estepona, Cortijo San Francisco is a classic Andalusian cortijo with whitewashed walls, stone patios, and mature gardens. Ideal for 80–180 guests.

Hacienda del alamo

Hacienda del Álamo (Málaga, 30 min)

Set 30 minutes from Marbella in the Málaga countryside, Hacienda del Álamo is one of the most impressive historic hacienda venues in the province. With capacity for 200+ guests, grand interiors, and sweeping estate grounds, it’s the standout choice for large celebrations that need both scale and character.

SMALL AND INTIMATE WEDDING VENUES IN MARBELLA

Small wedding venues in Marbella are, in my opinion, where the magic really happens. When you have 70 guests or fewer, every single person in that room matters — and the venue, the light, the pace of the day can all centre on what you actually care about, rather than on managing logistics for a crowd.

The Best Venues for Weddings Under 70 Guests

  • Villa Lámpara Marbella — Maximum ~70 guests, private villa, sea views. The most intimate luxury wedding experience on the Costa del Sol that I’ve personally photographed.
  • Casa de la Era — Smaller guest count, terrace with dual sea-and-mountain panorama. A rustic-elegant choice for couples who want character over grandeur.
  • The Lodge Ronda (90 min from Marbella) — For couples open to going inland, Ronda offers intimate finca settings surrounded by dramatic gorge landscapes. Worth the drive.

If you’re planning an elopement or a micro-wedding (under 20 guests), the range of options opens up significantly — many private villas that don’t normally host weddings will accommodate very small groups. See my guide as elopement photographer in Spain for more on intimate ceremonies.

Beach and Outdoor Weddings in Marbella

Beach wedding venue Marbella searches are significant — and the options are genuinely impressive. For couples set on a beach wedding in Marbella, Spain, the most established venues include Nikki Beach Marbella, La Cabane Beach Club, and Ocean Club Marbella — all offering direct beach access and curated wedding packages.

From a photography perspective, beach ceremonies offer extraordinary light but require planning: the best light is 90 minutes before sunset, wind can be a challenge for veil shots, and high tide can limit usable beach space. Always check conditions when booking. Ceremonies typically start at 19:00–20:00 in summer for optimal golden hour portraits.

Le cabanne beach club

Le Cabane Beach Club

Marbella’s most intimate beach club wedding venue. Directly on the sand with panoramic Mediterranean views, Le Cabane works beautifully for ceremonies of 30–80 guests. The whitewashed terrace catches perfect golden light from 19:00 onwards in summer. No big club energy — just elegance, sea breeze, and the sound of waves during your vows.

Trocadero arena Marbella

Trocadero Arena — Marbella

One of the Costa del Sol’s most spectacular beach wedding venues, Trocadero Arena sits directly on Playa de la Barrosa with capacity for up to 500 guests. The open-air arena format creates a natural amphitheatre effect — ideal for large ceremonies with real visual impact. Sunsets here face due west, which means the light during the reception hour is nothing short of cinematic.

Getting Married in Marbella: Costs and Planning

Marbella wedding packages vary enormously by venue type, season, and guest count. Here are realistic orientative ranges based on what I see booked by real couples at these venues:

  • Venue hire: €1.650 (intimate villa, low season) — €25.000+ (premium finca, peak season)
  • Catering: €80–€150 per person (sit-down dinner with open bar)
  • Photography: From €1.850 for full-day documentary coverage
  • Floristry: €3.000–€8.000+ for a full Marbella wedding setup

These figures are indicative — every wedding is different, and Marbella packages can be structured in dozens of ways depending on what’s included in the venue hire. Marbella Old Town Weddings

Wedding venues in Marbella Old Town are a different proposition entirely. The Casco Antiguo — with its whitewashed walls, orange trees, and medieval churches — isn’t a venue in itself, but it provides extraordinary location photography for couples based at nearby fincas and villas.

The iconic Plaza de los Naranjos is a favourite portrait location: at 6am, before any tourists arrive, it’s magical — terracotta tiles, orange blossom, and ancient arches. I photographed the Finca Amalur wedding in May 2023 using both the Plaza and Iglesia La Encarnación, where the religious ceremony took place. For couples planning a church ceremony, La Encarnación is one of the most beautiful historic churches in Andalucía — and virtually unknown to international couples. Zero competition, maximum impact.

FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

For small weddings (under 70 guests), Villa Lámpara Marbella and Casa de la Era are the standout options — both offer complete privacy, sea views, and an intimate atmosphere that’s impossible to achieve at larger venues. Both can be hired exclusively, meaning your entire guest list has the property to themselves from ceremony to late-night dancing.

Marbella wedding packages vary widely: intimate villa hire starts around €1.650 (low season), mid-range fincas run €5.000–€12.000, and premium venues can reach €25.000+. Catering typically adds €80–€150 per person. For a detailed breakdown covering every vendor category, read my full destination wedding cost guide →

It depends on the venue. Casa de la Era requires working with their preferred planner (Charlotte May Weddings). Villa Lámpara does not — couples manage vendors directly or appoint their own planner. For fincas like Finca Amalur and Cortijo Pedro Jiménez, a coordinator is strongly recommended for weddings over 80 guests, even if not mandatory.

May, June, September, and October are ideal — warm days (26–30°C), perfect evening light, and manageable crowds. July and August work well but temperatures can reach 36°C+ by midday, so ceremonies should be scheduled after 19:00. Winter weddings (Nov–Feb) offer beautiful light, mild temperatures (~18°C), and significantly lower venue costs.

Yes — foreigners can marry legally (civil ceremony) or symbolically at any Marbella venue. Legal civil marriages in Spain require paperwork submitted several months in advance; many international couples opt for a symbolic ceremony at the venue and register legally in their home country.
